Dr. Sayali Karke

Dr. Karke was born in Massachusetts, and moved to India to spend her formative years in Pune. This is where she developed a deep affinity for animals through encounters with stray dogs and cats, as well as the companionship of her best friends' pets. Returning to Massachusetts for high school, she subsequently attended UMass Amherst for her undergraduate studies. Initially having an undeclared major for the want of exploring all her career options, she went through multiple intro courses and ultimately rediscovered her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. Pursuing this passion, she furthered her veterinary education at Tufts University, engaging in diverse externships, including surgery, dentistry, and wildlife experiences. The surgical experience she gained in Ecuador, spaying and neutering the local stray dog and cat population while immersing herself in the culture the beautiful country had to offer became a memorable highlight of her academic journey. Despite her fulfilling experiences, a longing for the city life of her upbringing led her to relocate to New York, where she is spending her time continually learning from an experienced veterinary staff and spending her free time exploring the city and all the music and food spots it has to offer. She loves everything about general practice and has a special interest in surgery, ophthalmology, and dermatology.
