Dr. Melissa Colon received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2012. During this time, she volunteered in Nicaragua and Honduras to provide surgery and medical care to pets and homeless dogs, from which she developed an interest in preventative care and educating the public. She continues to take part in career days at her alma mater, SUNY College at Old Westbury, with her dog Lucky to discuss animal welfare and educate perspectives students. Dr. Colon attended Tufts University for her clinical year. Following veterinary school, she completed a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery and emergency care. During her spare time she enjoys quality time with her two and four legged family members, mambo dancing and DIY crafts.
