Dr. Livia Shelson grew up in Toronto, Canada, during which she began volunteering in veterinary clinics at a young age. While she always had a love of animals, it was the opportunity to work with pet families that drew her to veterinary medicine. She obtained her undergraduate degree in zoology at the University of Guelph, before heading Down Under to pursue a DVM degree at the University of Melbourne. After 4 years of koalas and kangaroos, she has relocated to New York to soak in everything the city has to offer.

Dr. Shelson strives to strengthen the human-animal bond by providing high-quality, evidence-based care options that meets the needs of the whole pet family. She is particularly passionate about nutrition, behavior, and the management of chronic disease.

She is very excited to be starting this next chapter with the wonderful and experienced team at VCG Forest Hills. When not at the clinic, she is seeing theatre, trying to find the best coffee in New York, and spending time with her partner.
